I'd like to thank NorthPoint for screwing us over. I'd also like to thank them for not notifying us before they shut off our DSL, never to return or refund our money. As our office's unwilling MIS, I particularly enjoy the barrage of insults, rage, and assinine questions that arose because of this. In short, I'm fucking furious and I don't care who has a problem with that (not you, dear readers, but my co-workers).

Sooo...I won't be e-mailing anyone anytime soon. God damn it.

It's confirmed. I suffer from PMS. My peanut butter of choice is Adams Natural Crunchy. Good for cramps, writer's block, and horny fits.

Tom asked me last night if I, as a reporter, would ever witness an execution. The jounalists' follow-up to Massie's lethal injection was expectedly somber -- I would wager to say most of the reporters there were caught off gaurd with what they saw. There is a certain brutality to all executions, even if the executing device itself consists merely of tiny bottles.

My answer to the question was a hesistant "yes." I'm on the fence when it comes to the death penalty, and it seems the older I get, the more opposed to it I become (working for a self-denying left-wing non-profit probably has some bearing as well). But I told Tom the two most powerful things anyone can see are the beginnings of life (i.e. birth) and the endings of life (death). To secure any kind of opinion on the death penalty, I can't simply rely on co-workers, peers, media, or even intuition. I must be part of the process.

You might be thinking, god, Scott, you're a hippie. Not true, strictly speaking, but committing myself to hands-on existence does reek of psuedo-metaphysical, freak-out-Friday, LSD-for-dinner bullshit. Two years in a dismal working world (without a single day of vacation, I might add) can do weird things. It's nice to have something other than the girlfriend that exites me.

Note to self: while fascinating and necessary, particularly after Fast Food Nation, attempting to research slaughterhouses while eating lunch should be avoided at all costs. Not really sure what I was thinking...

Just typing the word cocaine leaves me with a very 80s-Miami-Vice-Reaganomics kind of feeling. I've never done it. I doubt I would. I've seen others chop and snort coke. It sparkles and glitters. It's not as white as I expected it to be. She tells me she doesn't get high anymore. She says it makes her function properly. Not better, but properly. Without it, she's "not bad, just not as good as I could be." I haven't seen her in years. Ronald say she's fine. She's married now, but divorcing soon. No kids. That's a relief.

Feeling narcissistic tonight. My ever-short attention span's led me back to Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood." You'd be surprised how few books I've read cover to cover. It's not many. I could count them on one hand. Maybe two.

Everyone in my household's wide awake. I hope their insomnia's not contagious.
